Desmond Troy Released By WWE

Desmond Troy, also known as Denzel Dejournette, has been released by WWE.

Troy announced the news on August 6, the same day WWE released several other Superstars during a wave of cuts.

“Life is tough, but it’s about time I got some adversity to see what I’m made of,” wrote Troy. “What a way to start the weekend. Thank you @TripleH and @WWENXT for the opportunity. There’s power in the name and with a name like Denzel Dejournette I can’t and won’t lose!”

The former NCAA All-American wrestler signed with WWWE in 2018. Before he competed on the July 2, 2021 episode of 205 Live, he hadn’t wrestled on WWE TV since the December 16, 2020 episode of NXT, where Karrion Kross defeated him in a squash match. Troy made a few appearances on the main roster as an extra in 2020, and he was also on the March 5, 2021 episode of SmackDown as one of Apollo Crews’ Elite Nigerian Guards.
