Serena Deeb Provides Injury Update, Says She’s One Step Closer To Return

Serena Deeb‘s in-ring return is closer to being a reality.

Serena Deeb shared a new video on social media where she is seen sitting in a wheelchair, but ends up standing up and removing her knee brace. Deeb says she’s “one step closer to being cleared” and then cuts a promo about how there’s too many people in the wrestling business that can’t match her level of dedication and respect.

“I see a lot of self-entitlement in today’s day and age,” Deeb said. “And my question is—where is the courtesy? Where is the etiquette, the respect that this business was founded on? Where is the passion, the dedication?”

Deeb brought up the fact that she had to shave her head on national television in WWE to get her big break, and dared viewers to show her someone that would do the same now.

“None of them are Serena Deeb! I’ve dedicated my entire life to professional wrestling. Do you know how long it took me to learn one thousand holds? A very, very long time. I have put in my hours, I have paid my dues, and if there were a Ph.D. for pro wrestling,” Deeb stated, “you’d better believe I would have it by now. So, when I return, it doesn’t matter who they throw in front of me, whether it’s a Bunny, a ‘beast,’ an alien or a Doctor—they will all see that there is only one professional of professional wrestling. I am Serena Deeb, the ‘Woman of 1,000 Holds.’”

Deeb had been sidelined for a few months this year, revealing in March that she’d had a scope done on her knee. She returned to competition in May and worked through the injury, but she was sidelined once again and has not wrestled since the July 19 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation.

Deeb was the NWA Women’s Champion for 222 days, but lost the title to Kamille at NWA When Our Shadows Fall on June 6.
