Darby Allin: A Dream Tag Match With Sting Against Andrade El Idolo And Ric Flair Would Be ‘Fun’

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, Sting will wrestle on TNT for the first time in over 20 years when he teams up with Darby Allin to face 2.0.

The last time he did, “The Icon” faced Ric Flair on the final episode of WCW Nitro. Now that Sting is a member of the AEW roster and Ric Flair is a free agent, it’s at least (seemingly) possible that the two legends could share the ring again. After Flair accompanied Andrade El Idolo to the ring at TripleMania XXIX this past weekend, many fans are speculating that “The Nature Boy” could be heading to AEW at some point.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Allin stated that a dream bout in which he’d team up with Sting to face Flair and Andrade would be “fun,” and he noted that anything can happen in the wild world of wrestling.

“Yeah, that’d be fun!” said Allin. “Anything is possible, I feel. You’ve just gotta be patient and see what goes down, and where the wind takes you.”

Allin also looked back on the formation of his relationship with Sting. He described how the two men have clicked so much that “The Icon” lets him use his private dressing room. He joked that they have a lot in common, beneath the face paint and behind the scenes.

“The first night he debuted, I went in his locker room and we start talking and stuff like that,” said Allin. “I was showing him more videos of the stuff that I do, my promos and stuff like that, and he got to see my creative side out of the ring.”

“He’s the guy I really hang out with backstage. His dressing room, he’s got his own little private dressing room and he says it’s mine.”

Sting has working as Allin’s manager, rather than a traditional wrestler, but he’s still contributing to the show. In the interview, Allin noted that “The Icon” wants to work, and he enjoys being “put to work.”

“He likes to be put to work, he wants to be part of the show,” said Allin. “He doesn’t wanna just sit there and collect the cheque,

“He wants to have things to do, so it’s real cool to be a part of that.”
