CM Punk Shares How Thunder Rosa Inadvertently Made Him Realize His AEW Debut Was Actually ‘Real’

CM Punk is back, and he recently explained how Thunder Rosa unintentionally made it sink in that it was ‘real.’

CM Punk was a recent guest on the Angi Taylor Show to promote AEW All Out, and he was asked if he knew the exact moment that truly caused things to set in emotionally and made him realize it was ‘real’ now. Punk explained how he had been nervous for most of the time he was backstage, but he saw Thunder Rosa right before hitting the curtain. He said she didn’t even mean to do anything but greet him, but her warm welcome nearly brought him to tears.

“I’m going to call out Thunder Rosa. I was a nervous wreck the whole time and I’m pacing the hallways. I can’t sit still, I can’t watch a monitor, can’t talk to people. I’m running around and then I’m waiting to go out, waiting for my music to hit and she just looks at me and goes, ‘Hey, welcome back’ and I almost just burst into tears. I was just like, you son-of-a-bitch, I just want to punch you right in the chest. She got me pretty good with that one. I don’t think that was her intention,” Punk said, “but man, she got me.”

Later in the show, Punk was playfully asked by co-host Abe Kanan if he wanted to break some big news about some possible returns, such as Daniel Bryan or his wife, AJ Lee.

“The only thing I’ll say is that you should not miss this pay-per-view,” Punk said. “You should purchase it now and watch it on Sunday and just be a fan and enjoy yourself.”

AEW All Out airs on Sunday, September 5. CM Punk will face off with Darby Allin in his first match in more than seven years.
