Glenn Jacobs Has Potential Interest In State-Level Political Run, But Currently Focused On Mayoral Re-Election Campaign

Glenn Jacobs says he might one day entertain a run at a seat on the State level, but right now he’s just focused on getting re-elected as Mayor of Knox County.

Glenn Jacobs (aka Kane) was a recent guest on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw and spoke about his future in politics once his mayoral run ends. Currently in his first term and seeking a second, Jacobs explained that his office is under a two-term limit, which is also something he’s in favor of instituting in other areas of government. Noting that it’s been a few fun, yet challenging years as Mayor of Knox County, he’s still just focused on doing the best he can to get re-elected and having a successful second term.

“After that, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I like this position. I do feel like I have a positive impact on my community, which is really what it’s all about,” Jacobs said.

“There’s no way I’m ever going to go to Washington, D.C., I’m just not interested in that. I would be maybe interested in something at the state level because I think—we discount the importance of state and local government. We think so much about when we talk government, it’s always Washington [D.C.],” he pointed out, “but state and local government has an immense impact on our lives. I’m not sure exactly what I’m going to do.

After JBL joked that it sounded like ‘Governor Jacobs’ was speaking to them, Jacobs said he’s not sure what’s next and added that “we’ll have to see what the future holds.”

Jacobs was elected Mayor of Knox County in 2018 to a four-year term. The next county primary election is May 3, 2022, and the general election is Aug. 4, 2022.

Jacobs also spoke with Brisco and JBL about the time he accidentally scared an old couple in their hotel room while he was still wearing his Kane make-up; you can read his explanation of how it happened at this link.
