Report: ‘Young Rock’ Casting Several Major 80s Wrestling Names For Its Second Season (Updated)

Young Rock“, a series based around on the beginnings of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, enjoyed a successful first season on NBC, and the show will start filming its second season next month. A new report suggests that the cast will include some noteworthy new characters.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the show is currently casting for some major stars from the 80s:

Jerry “The King” Lawler, Tommy Rich and a young Bam Bam Bigelow

Haystacks Calhoun.

Gene Okerlund, Big John Studd, Freddie Blassie, and Mr. Fuji.

The Great Kabuki

The first season included portrayals of wrestlers like Andre The Giant, Junkyard Dog, Randy Savage, Sgt. Slaughter, and The Iron Shiek, among many others.

Update: in a second report, Johnson reported that the show is casting a few more noteworthy names for season two, as Pat Patterson, George “The Animal” Steele, and King Tonga ( also known as Haku) are reportedly in the plans.
