Joe Gacy came into his match against NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa with aspirations of punching a ticket to WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. Instead, his fairytale story ended with a tough loss to “The Blackheart.”
In a match that saw Gacy get off to a hot start, it seemed as if the outspoken newcomer would be able to do just enough to take down Ciampa. Early on, Gacy held his own with Ciampa, as he endured an assault in which the champion slammed him into the broadcast table outside of the ring. Eventually, Gacy forced the match back into the ring, and he even dropped Ciampa with a huge suplex. He gained more momentum with a diving senton.

Unfortunately, things fell apart for Gacy, as Ciampa gained control and would not let up. He took a Doctor Bomb and still kicked out. “The Blackheart” then rallied before he hit a dropkick and connected it into a Fairytale Ending for the victory. In doing so, he made sure that Ciampa’s match at Halloween Havoc will remain a singles match with Bron Breakker.
After the match, Harland (formerly known as Parker Boudreaux) attacked Ciampa and stared down Gacy. The advocate of safe spaces responded by stroking Harland’s face, prompting him to quickly run away in a strange exchange.
