Bobby Fish: Parting With My Theme Song Was Difficult, Getting It Back Was Like ‘Putting On A Good Pair Of Jeans’

Bobby Fish says getting his old Ring Of Honor-era theme song back was just like putting on a comfy pair of jeans.

Bobby Fish was the latest guest on AEW Unrestricted and he spoke about how his AEW debut happened, as well as the music he’s using. When Fish made his All Elite Wrestling in-ring debut, he came to the ring as a familiar song played in the arena. Fish (and Kyle O’Reilly) used “Dance Away” as reDRagon in Ring Of Honor, and Fish explained how he ultimately went back to using the same theme for his AEW career.

“Little bit or circumstance, maybe serendipitous in a way. I got really accustomed to that song and where I was, and it was time for new music and parting with that was difficult because I was just so accustomed to it. Obviously, I became accustomed to what we were doing [in NXT] as well, so when I knew [AEW] was coming up, Adam Cole had — I loved and continue to love Adam’s new music, it’s so good, right? That being said, I was like, ‘I don’t know, do I get new music? What’s it going to be?’ Anyway, to think then, Jeff Jones actually, it was his suggestion and I was like, ‘I haven’t listened to it in a while but I do remember loving it’ and yeah, it just made sense. So as soon as the first chord ripped, it just felt like, ‘Ohhh… yes!’ Like putting on a good pair of jeans.”

Fish then talked about what sold AEW on him in the first place, and he said it’s really because he didn’t feel like he was being sold on anything at all.

“Probably the fact that it didn’t feel like [Tony Khan] wasn’t trying to sell it to me. He has such confidence, and he is a fan of wrestling and you can feel that in the conversation. He’s excited, he’s motivated, he’s in a hurry, it was infectious. I don’t know, I had heard whatever good things prior to the conversation but it was like all of those things that I was expecting or suspecting just seemed to be there, and it was quick, but it was genuine and I think that is what probably sealed it for me, was just [thinking], ‘Man, I don’t think this guy is BS’ing me, and if he is, he’s one of the world’s greatest BS’ers’ [And] there’s value in that too.”

Fish signed with All Elite Wrestling after making his in-ring debut, a TNT Championship match loss to Sammy Guevara. He currently sits at 4-3, with wins over Lee Moriarty and Anthony Greene and singles losses to CM Punk and Bryan Danielson on his resume thus far.
