Becky Lynch: I Don’t Know If My Friendship With Charlotte Can Be Fixed While We’re Still Wrestling

Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair have been generating buzz in recent weeks due to the real-life animosity between the former friends. In the aftermath of a heated backstage confrontation, Lynch blatantly stated that they don’t like each other. She described how Flair became jealous of her rise to stardom in 2019, and this development put a strain on their relationship, even before it reached its curreent state.

Just a few short days ahead of their high-profile bout at WWE Survivor Series, this conflict seems to be at an all-time high, fans continue to focus on this genuine rivalry. But on the other hand, it’s fair to wonder whether “Big Time Becks” and “The Queen” could reconcile.

In an interview with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Lynch shared her belief that she doesn’t know if this outcome is possible while the two women are still in the industry due to the practically inherent tension between the two at this point.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” Lynch said. “I think there would be a lot that would need to be talked about and a lot that would need to be discussed. Honestly, I don’t think we can be in this business anymore. I feel like once we’re in this industry, she’s going to be jealous of me, and I’m not going to like the way she does business. I don’t know that it can be repaired while we’re both still wrestling.”

Lynch also elaborated on her previous comments about why they don’t like each other anymore, with the aforementioned showdown shining a light on this tension. She noted that the publicity stemming from this confrontation has taken the matter to a whole new level. She went on to state that, on Sunday night, she and Flair will try to “prove something,” both to the fans and to themselves.

“I think it’s renewed disdain for each other, I think that’s what’s going to make it different,” Lynch said. “I think before there was always tension. Now it just feels like it’s a different level. There was always something boiling under the surface for a long time and that was going to come to a head. Many people didn’t see what happened … well, some people saw what happened, but obviously the whole world didn’t see what happened.

“It was heated, and we all know it was heated, and there’s many different versions of the story that are out there, but now it’s one of those things where…I don’t know. I don’t know how Sunday is going to go, and I don’t think the audience knows how it’s going to go. I know there’s going to be a lot of animosity and a lot of spite from both sides, and we’re going to be out there trying to prove something to the whole world and to ourselves.”

Given this ongoing feud behind the scenes, it’s fair to say the WWE Universe will be eagerly waiting for the moment the bell rings for the bout between Lynch and Flair at WWE Survivor Series.
