Ricochet On Turning Heel: We All Know I Can Be The Bad Guy, But I Don’t Need To Do That Right Now

Don’t expect to see Ricochet turn heel anytime soon.

Ricochet has been a babyface since he arrived in WWE, and while the former United States Champion has struggled to find any sustained success in recent months, “The Future of Flight” doesn’t plan to respond by changing who he is as a character.

During a recent appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, when asked about a potential heel turn, Ricochet described how he’s driven by the fans’ support, and his mission is to shut up the bad guys who get in his way.

“I mean, the thing about Ricochet is, one of the key things that kind of drives him is the WWE Universe, especially at the moment. You know, especially the guys like Sheamus out there, guys like [that], Ricochet wants to go out there and show like I don’t care how big and bad you think you are, it don’t matter. Like with Drew, I’m coming out there, I’m gonna look you in your face, I’m gonna smack you in the mouth, I don’t care, you know what I mean?

“So it’s like, I think at this moment, especially because you got so so many guys out there, not Drew but you have Roman [Reigns], you got Sheamus, you got all these guys out there who are you know, heels, essentially, but it’s like I wanna shut all them up. All those guys out there, talking all this talk, I’m about to shut them up. That’s my goal right now.”

To be fair, Ricochet acknowledged that he wants people to show him more respect due to his background and his previous success. He also made it clear that, in the past, he has thrived as a heel, and he can successfully step into that role if he needs to. Still, he stated that, at least for now, he doesn’t want to go that route.

“Definitely, I gotta have people put some respect on Ricochet’s name for real because like you said, I’ve been doing this for a long time and I have, like you said, back in PWG, being the bad guy was kind of my bread and butter there for years, you know what I mean,” said Ricochet. “That’s where I kind of got my popularity at. So if I need to be the bad guy, people know I can be the bad guy if I need to be. But right now, like I don’t think I need to be.

“Right now I think I can still go out there and tell somebody to shut up and smack them in their face, and still have the universe behind me, you know what I mean? I mean, Stone Cold Steve Austin did it for years, so, but like you said, if I need to be the bad guy, we all know that I can be the bad guy for sure.”
