Report: Johnny Gargano And Kyle O’Reilly Enter Free Agency, Get Removed From Internal WWE Roster

After wrestling in what could be their final matches as WWE Superstars, both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly have reportedly been removed from the internal WWE roster.

The move, as reported by PWInsider, isn’t much of a shock, as both Gargano and O’Reilly’s deals were up this month. While both stars are free agents now, it’s unclear whether Gargano or O’Reilly have any immediate plans to sign with a company. Gargano’s potential last match came at WWE NXT WarGames, where he teamed up with LA Knight, Pete Dunne, and Tommaso Ciampa in a loss against Team 2.0.

O’Reilly’s final bout with the company was on the subsequent episode of WWE NXT 2.0, where he lost a Steel Cage Match to Von Wagner. Both Gargano and O’Reilly were widely viewed as top stars on the brand, and they enjoyed remarkable runs during there time there. “Johnny Wrestling” became the brand’s Triple Crown Champion, while O’Reilly won the NXT Tag Team Championship Three Times.

Gargano gave a heartfelt address on the December 7 episode of WWE NXT 2.0 and thanked the fans and the NXT family. After the show went off the air, O’Reilly came to the ring and hugged Gargano. The two duo then celebrated alongside Shawn Michaels and Tommaso Ciampa in a clear sign that the previous era of NXT had come to an end. Both men were reportedly offered new contracts, but they opted to hit the open market instead. O’Reilly later tweeted “smell ya later” to hint that he was leaving.

Now that they’re free agents, Gargano and O’Reilly are free to sign elsewhere; their contracts expired, so they don’t have non-compete clauses.
