Tony Khan Teases AEW Will Have More Surprises Over The Next Few Weeks

AEW is gearing up for AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming, but it seems like, beyond Wednesday night, AEW President and General Manager Tony Khan might have some aces up his sleeve.

In an interview with Christopher Walker of DAZN, Khan teased that he has more surprises in store, specifically in regards to the loaded free agent market. At the very least, he shared his mission to make the next several shows must-see programming, and he expressed his belief that the product will be “really exciting” for the fans.

“I’m more than aware that there’s a number of free agents out there, wrestlers I admire too, but I’ve got to say that you just have to keep watching over these next few weeks and not just ‘Winter is Coming,'” said Khan.

“There’s the ‘Holiday Bash’ special from Greensboro, North Carolina, that includes the Christmas Day ‘Rampage.’ We have the last ever episode on TNT followed by the debut episode on TBS. There’s ‘Battle of the Belts’ coming in January. I want AEW to run shows that you just can’t miss, and I think these next few weeks are going to be really exciting for fans of wrestling.”

For now, the AEW side of the wrestling world is focused on “Winter is Coming”, a special episode of AEW Dynamite on December 15 that promises to deliver a memorable show. Last year’s event featured some unforgettable moments, such as Sting’s debut and Kenny Omega’s AEW World Championship victory. With this in mind, Khan expressed his confidence at the 2021 edition will be just as impactful.

“It’s Hangman Page defending his AEW title against Bryan Danielson,” said Khan. “A dream match. Do I have to say anything else? MJF against Dante Martin for the Dynamite Diamond Ring. A wrestler who’s had a really good 2021 against a 20-year-old with one of the brightest futures in the entire industry.

“What about Serena Deeb against Hikaru Shida? Another match that has the potential to steal the show. This is a show that I’m really excited about and I’m confident that ‘Winter is Coming’ this time around can have the same impact as last year’s version.”

Fans will have to wait and see what AEW has in store, but if the past is anything to go by, it’s safe to assume the company will deliver more excitement in the coming weeks.
