Deonna Purrazzo might not be the “Career Killer” anymore, but she is looking forward to trying to end the reign of one women’s wrestling legend at Hard To Kill.
The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast recently featured Deonna Purrazzo as a guest, who spoke about working with Mickie James and other legends for the past few months in IMPACT Wrestling. Purrazzo said it’s been a lot of fun so far, and she’s excited to see how she can top her feud with James again in 2022.
“It’s been so fun to work with Mickie, because I feel like I, like you said, had this like, I’m beating legends and I got to, you know, retire Jazz. I got to wrestle ODB, all these Knockout legends that I’ve gotten a chance to interact with in some way,” said Purrazzo. “And I think that as much as Mickie has been my biggest feud in IMPACT, there was this underlying story of, you know, what legend is gonna beat the upcomer, you know what I mean? It was kind of like teacher verse student, someone needs to shut this cocky girl up. And Mickie was the one to do that.
“So on a personal level, it was cool because Mickie, Jazz, ODB, Gail [Kim] are all people that I watched growing up, and made me want to fight for the same things for women’s wrestling that they were fighting for. So to be able to work with them, I got to work with Melina at EmPowerrr, is really special on like a personal level. Because when you get to wrestle you know, your heroes, like that’s cool, when your heroes become your coworkers, and there’s a mutual respect there. So yeah, it’s been fun, but I’m excited to see where we go next and what else we can do to top the feud that we have had up until this point and then our match at Bound For Glory.”
Purrazzo also commented on using the “Career Killer” moniker and how it didn’t catch on, but also drew some comparisons to Randy Orton’s “Legend Killer” gimmick.
“Yes, I was referring to myself as the ‘Career Killer’ for just a little bit,” said Purrazzo. “It didn’t catch on too much.” [laughs]. “But ‘Legend Killer’ was obviously taken so I couldn’t do that.”
