AEW Rampage Results (1/21/22): Jon Moxley Bout, TBS Title Match And More

On January 21, AEW will deliver a star-studded episode of AEW Rampage.

Jon Moxley will compete in his first bout since October 30 when he faces Ethan Page in a singles contest. Plus, Jade Cargill will defend the AEW TBS Championship against Anna Jay, and Trent Beretta will take on Nick Jackson. Finally, AEW will send for HOOK, as the young star will battle Serpentico.

Commentary: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho & Taz

MATCH 1

Jon Moxley def. Ethan Page via TKO submission.
Page sends Scorpio Sky to the back as Moxley looks in great shape. Mox hits a running back elbow to Page and soon bites him in the corner. A big shoulder tackle takes Mox to the outside. Page hammers away at Mox on the timeskeeper’s table and the table breaks. Mox sends him into the barricade. Page turns the tide when he dropkicks Mox’s knee in the ropes and then utilizes those ropes for a twisting backbreaker. After the break, Mox hits his patented rebound German Suplex.

Page does nail an impressive avalanche powerslam, but Mox gets the win via TKO submission after the bulldog choke.

Post-match, Moxley is confronted by Bryan Danielson who is shown clapping near the backstage area.

MATCH 2

Trent Baretta def. Nick Jackson via pinfall. A very athletic contest and it goes through a commercial break before Nick hits Trent’s knees after a crisp senton attempt. Trent fires back, but it’s Nick who flips off the apron. He gets caught with a wild spear by Trent on the outside.

The action continues and Nick gets a near fall after a Canadian destroyer. “This is awesome” chants occur. Nick hits a senton on the ring ramp to Trent and then nails him back in the ring with a 450 splash, but Trent kicks out. He hits his patented backpack piledriver for the 1-2-3.

MATCH 3

Hook def. Serpentico via pinfall. Hook just murders Serpentico. He does several judo throws. He give him a Tazzplex before cinching in a Tazmission and gets the tap-out win. Post-match, QT Marshall comes out to complain but gets suplexed on the stage before Hook steps over him.

MAIN EVENT

Jade Cargill (c) (with Mark Sterling) def. Anna Jay to succesfully defend the TBS Women’s Championship. Some posturing by Jade after a fallaway slam kip-up nearly gets a roll-up win by Anna Jay. Jay provided to be a very game competitor as she locked in the Queenslayer submission, but Jade muscled free.Finish comes when Jade hits a one-armed powerbomb before she got Jaded. 1-2-3.
