GCW The WRLD On GCW Results (1/23/22)

Mance Warner comes to the ring and says GCW has the best locker room in the business. He praises every aspect of the company, including its fans before Atticus Cogar interrupts him. He says “f—” GCW and all the work the company has done in order to make this night happen. He gets in Warner’s face, and “Mancer” says he might not be cleared to wrestle, but he sure can fight. He attacks Cogar, but the latter gains the upper hand. Matthew Justice makes the save, but the rest of 44OH! runs to the ring and beats the duo down.

The lights go down, and Sabu shows up with Bill Alfonso. The good guys send 44OH! scrambling to teach them a lesson.

Ruby Soho vs. Allie Katch

Soho and Katch slowly feel each other out early on. “The Runaway” briefly gains the upper hand, but Katch takes control. She gets a two count with a cannonball, but Soho catches her opponent with a pin attempt for a two count. They trade blows, and Soho plants Katch with a back suplex. Katch drills Soho with a knee strike and gets a near fall with a piledriver. Soho rallies and blasts Katch with a kick to the head for the win.

Winner: Ruby Soho

The crowd shows their respect for both women with a post-match ovation; likewise, the two competitors hug in a show of sportsmanship.

EFFY vs. Jeff Jarrett

EFFY gets a big ovation. Once the bell rings, he takes a $20 out of his trunks and puts it on the mat, but Jarrett doesn’t take it. The two rivals lock up, and “Double J” sends EFFY to the mat. EFFY has some of his signature fun with Jarrett, who gets upset and talks to the referee about it. EFFY blasts Jarrett with some punches and gyrates his hips on Jarrett’s head. “Double J” blasts the former Internet Champion with a clothesline and dumps him over the ropes. Jarrett whips EFFY with his belt, and the crowd chants, “Daddy likes it!”

He blasts a ringside official with the belt. Jarrett continues to control the bout while the crowd chants, “F— you, Slapnuts.” He chokes EFFY with the belt, but as one of the commentators notes, “Daddy” likes that, too. EFFY rallies with a flurry of series and gyrates his hips into Jarrett’s face. Jarrett dodges a diving EFFY and grabs his guitar. EFFY blasts “Double J” right in the “slapnuts” and takes the guitar. He chokes Jarrett with his fishnets, but the WWE Hall of Famer blasts him with the guitar anyway. EFFY practically shakes it off, but Jarrett immediately slams him to the mat with The Stroke for the win.

Winner: Jeff Jarrett

GCW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. Homicide

The fans chant, “F— Bully Ray” for Moxley, based on the former ECW star’s recent comments about Mox’s return to AEW. This bout starts as a brawl, as the two competitors trade stiff blows in the opening minutes. Homicide dives onto Moxley, but the champion locks in his signature choke and nearly makes Homicide tap. The challenger reaches the ropes, but Moxley continues to control the bout with a double-armed DDT onto a chair. Homicide gets a two count with a jackknife pin, but Moxley fires back with a clothesline. A DDT through a chair earns Moxley the win.

Winner and still GCW World Champion: Jon Moxley

After the match, the hometown crowd applauds Homicide.

GCW Tag Team Championship: The Briscoe Brothers vs. TBA (Open Challenge)

Matt Tremont and former GCW World Champion Nick Gage answer the open challenge. Gage hasn’t competed for GCW since the “War Ready” event in October. He immediately spears Jay Briscoe through a door when the match starts.

The bout quickly becomes a violent brawl. Jay and Tremont fight on the outside, and Mark dives onto Tremont through a door outside the ring. Mark puts Gage through another door with a diving elbow. Tremont slams Jay, and Gage drops Mark with a super piledriver through a door for the win.

Winners and new GCW World Tag Team Championship: Nick Gage and Matt Tremont

After the short match, Gage grabs a microphone and says he took some time away to get his mind, body, and spirit right. He acknowledges the fans’ support and says he loves his gang while the locker room celebrates in the ring.
