Matt Cardona Beats Joey Janela In Wild Bout, Gets Attacked By Sean Waltman

Matt Cardona defeated Joey Janela in an unforgettable match at GCW’s “The WRLD on GCW” event.

In a wild match between the two foes, Cardona emerged victorious. The war featured several surprising run-ins, including Swoggle, Virgil (who wore a Vince McMahon mask and entered to his music), Marko Stunt and Brian Myers.

Before the match even started, Cardona entered to ECW legend The Sandman’s classic theme, “Enter Sandman” and wore a red flannel vest as a clear shot at Mick Foley; “F— Mick Foley” was written on the back.

Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

Janela grabs the Internet Championship, but Mark Sterling comes to the ramp. He calls Janela an “idiot” and says if “The Bad Boy” uses the belt, he’ll be disqualified. He introduces a “VIP” named Vincent, and “No Chance in Hell” plays. A man wearing a Vince McMahon mask plays, and when his mask comes off, it’s revealed to be Virgil. Cardona goes for a belt shot, but Janela dodges it. Janela slams Cardona, who’s now bleeding from the mouth, with a Death Valley Driver on the apron.

Out of nowhere, Swoggle crawls out from the ring and attacks Janela. Sam Stackhouse, a mountain of a man, shows up and squashes Swoggle. Suddenly, Marko Stunt enters the ring and blasts Swoggle with it. He attacks Swoggle, and Cardona stops him. Janela plants Cardona with a DDT. Janela tries to attack Green, but Cardona blasts him with a chair. He slams Janela through a chair for a two count. A mystery man attacks Janela by spearing him through a door and reveals himself to be Brian Myers. Cardona slams Janela through a table for the win.

After the match, D-Generation X’s music played, and WWE Hall of Famer Sean Waltman came the ring. He attacked Cardona and Myers and stood tall next to Janela.
