Ricky Starks used some “stroke” to set up a FTW Championship match on the February 4 episode of AEW Rampage.
On the special “Beach Break” episode of AEW Dynamite, Starks cut a promo from one of Cleveland’s beaches. Decked out in cold weather gear, Starks announced that he’ll give Jay Lethal a shot at his title on February 4.
Lethal has been involved in Team Taz’s business in recent weeks; he rescued the group’s nemesis, Dante Martin from a beatdown on the January 12 episode of AEW Dynamite. He later confronted Starks and challenged him to a title match on AEW Rampage. Starks didn’t immediately offer a response, but he has now agreed to give Lethal a shot.

As of this writing, Lethal’s bout with Starks will be the challenger’s second singles match on AEW TV. In his in-ring debut, Lethal came up short against AEW TNT Champion Sammy Guevara on the November 17 episode of AEW Dynamite. He then competed in the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal on AEW Winter is Coming in December. Otherwise, he has only competed on AEW Dark/Dark Elevation.
