Tony Khan: ‘I Plan To Make More Big Signings’, The Forbidden Door Will Open Again Soon

All Elite Wrestling has added several major names over the past few months; Adam Cole, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, and Kyle O’Reilly are just a few examples. But AEW President Tony Khan isn’t done making moves.

Fans have been buzzing about the free agency market this week, as the non-compete clauses of former WWE stars like Karrion Kross, Ember Moon, Mia Yim, and Keith Lee, among others, have expired. With this in mind, speculation has been running wild as the wrestling world wonders who will become “All Elite.”

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Khan stated that he intends to make more “big signings” in the near future. He teased that fans can look forward to hearing some news on Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage and at some point the following week.

“Just in the last several weeks, we’ve made some big ones, and I plan to make some more big signings, and not in the long-term future, I mean in the short-term future,” said Khan. “I’ll still be very active in the free agent market, and the Forbidden door shall be opening again very soon. So I’m really looking forward to Rampage tonight and I guarantee you, we’ll make some news coming out of this night’s show. And then we’ll have some big news next week, too.”

Khan then shared his mindset about using free agents to enhance AEW; he described how he aims to give fans what they want, and he views any chance to do that as a beneficial opportunity for the company. Likewise, Khan hinted that fans can look forward to seeing someone step through the forbidden door soon.

“I have to say, I really, really love listening to the wrestling fans,” said Khan. “I love wrestling myself and I’m a fan, and I believe that the fans give us the direction and it’s up to us to give great shows that the people wanna see. I don’t want it to be handed down on high. For me, any time we can sign somebody that’s gonna make the fans excited, that’s gonna come in here and give the fans big matches that they’re excited to watch and somebody that could bring new fans to AEW, it’s a great opportunity for us. And so I will continue to explore the free agent market, and the forbidden door will be opening again soon.”
