Hangman Page Beats Lance Archer In Texas Death Match, Gets Confronted By Adam Cole

AEW World Champion Hangman Page defeated one challenger on the February 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, but now he must turn his attention toward another.

In the main event on Wednesday night, Page defeated Lance Archer in a brutal, bloody Texas Death Match. The action kicked off right away when the two men brawled backstage before the bell, and Hangman sent “The Murderhawk Monster” through a glass pane on the stage. The war only escalated from there. Archer brought a chair wrapped in barbed wire into play and used it on the champion. The challenger also used a trash can on Page, and a number of other weapons were utilized throughout the bout.

In one nasty highlight, Archer stabbed the bloody Page with a fork and proceeded to lick the utensil. Archer’s legendary manager, Jake “The Snake” Roberts got involved at one point, and he attacked the champion. Roberts went for his signature DDT on Hangman, but Archer stopped him at the last second. “The Murderhawk Monster” brutalized Page repeatedly during the match, and he practically broke the champion in half with a Blackout onto the steel steps. But in the end, bloodied and battered, Page vaulted over the referee and sent Archer crashing through two tables for the win.

Hangman didn’t get to celebrate his victory, though; his top-ranked contender, Adam Cole strolled to the ring and grabbed the title. He then put it on Page’s shoulder and patted it to make it clear that he intends to challenge for the gold.
