Tony Khan On Shane McMahon Potentially Joining AEW: I’m Not Sure He Would Be A Fit

Tony Khan continues to build up the roster of All Elite Wrestling, and his latest acquisition — Keith Lee — already drawing huge buzz. The wrestling world continues to speculate about which noteworthy names might be on the company’s radar, and Shane McMahon continues to garner some consideration among fans.

WWE reportedly parted ways with Shane, the son of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, following the Royal Rumble, and his future in the wrestling world is unclear. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the AEW CEO knowledged that it’d be interesting to talk to “Shane-O-Mac”, but he expressed his uncertainly as to whether “the chairman’s son would fit with AEW.

“I’d certainly take the call,” Khan said. “I’m sure he’d be an interesting person to talk to about wrestling. I’m not sure exactly if he would be a fit. I have not heard from him, and I don’t expect to hear from him, but in this business, you never know.”

Elsewhere in the discussion, Khan spoke about the recent success of AEW Dynamite, which just recently took the top spot in cable this week over both the 2022 Winter Olympics and the return of Comedy Central’s “South Park”. Khan emphasized his gratitude to both the fans and the entire AEW team for this success.

“We were the No. 1 show on cable this week [among the 18–49 demographic], beating the Olympics, the NBA and a huge property in South Park,” said Khan. “That’s a credit to wrestling fans and our hard-working wrestlers and staff. We’re very appreciative to everyone that made that happen.”

As AEW continues to reach new heights, it’ll be fascinating to see how the roster’s company continues to grow, whether “Shane-O-Mac” is in Khan’s sights or not.
