The New Years Golden Series is nearing an end. New Japan Pro Wrestling had one last stop on the road before this weekend’s big shows in Sapporo. The show was headlined by the ever-heightening rivalry between Minoru Suzuki & Toru Yano. KOPW 2022 provisional trophy holder Minoru Suzuki lost the fan vote for stipulations, and looked to take his frustrations out on challenger Toru Yano, and the dog cage that will be the focal point of the two’s match on Feb. 20th.

Suzuki and Yano were both disqualified from the 4-on-4 elimination tag main event for excessive handcuff use, leaving the 4-on-4 match a 3-on-3 affair. Yano’s team was then done no favors by Yuji Nagata accidentally eliminating himself, as well as El Desperado getting the better of Ryusuke Taguchi. It was up to Master Wato to win for Yano, Main Unit, and all that was good and true…and he blew it, getting rolled up by Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
Elsewhere on the card SANADA continued to watch from the sidelines as his teammate got the victory, with Hiromu Takahashi submitting Young Lion Ryohei Oiwa. SANADA continues to be a near non-factor on the road to his Feb. 19th title match against IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Meanwhile, SANADA’s stablemate Shingo Takagi flattened Togi Makabe in a huge title match that once again saw Tetsuya Naito and Kazuchika Okada try and get the mental edge over each other before they face off in the final match of the tour on Feb. 20th.
Plus, CHAOS continued its tag war against House of Torture, Satoshi Kojima decapitated Jado in a six-man tag match, and Great-O-Khan beat Kosei Fujita like Fujita owed him money.
