Deonna Purrazzo On Potential Rematch With Taya Valkyrie: ‘I’m Just Waiting On You, Taya’

Deonna Purrazzo is ready to take on anyone who steps up.

“The Virtuosa” is both the reigning AAA Reina de Reinas Champion and the ROH Women’s World Champion, and she continues to defend both titles. Given the freedom her “Champ Champ” open challengers offer, many fans continue to dream of a bout between Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie. The former IMPACT Knockouts Champion is back on the open market after her fairly brief WWE run ended with her release in November.

When asked about this potential clash during an appearance on FaceTurn with Candace Cordelia, “The Virtuosa” made it clear that she’s open to facing Valkyrie, who recently won the right to challenge for the title following her return to AAA. She also noted that, due to her past victory over Valkyrie at IMPACT Hard To Kill 2021, she’s not particularly worried about the possibility of this buzzworthy bout.

“I’m never happy when people lose their job, you know what I mean,” said Purrazzo. “Unfortunately it’s just the nature now of our business but I’m excited to see that she went back to AAA, those are her roots. That’s where she got her start, and she seems to be loving everything she’s doing. But also it’s my championships, so I’m going to defend them at any cost. And also, I’ve already beat her.

“I sent her crying out of IMPACT Wrestling, so I don’t necessarily think I’m as worried and as focused on her. She won the number one contendership like two or three weeks ago, and she hasn’t popped up yet. I don’t know who my opponent’s gonna be. She’s had all the opportunity in the world to come get what she says is hers, so I’m just waiting on you, Taya.”

Speaking of IMPACT Hard To Kill, Purrazzo unsuccessfully challenged for Mickie James’ Knockouts World Championship in the unforgettable main event of this year’s show. In the interview, “The Virtuosa” looked back on this feud with James and explained that she enjoyed learning from the legend. She also expressed her enthusiasm about possibly competing in another cinematic match before she made it clear that she has her sights set on the new champion, Tasha Steelz.

“I think that doing the farm brawl was kind of different for me, and I think everything that I got to do with Mickie was different for me,” said Purrazzo. “Up until that point in my championship reign, I hadn’t had such a feud and such a story to be telling, and it was really interesting to learn from Mickie what’s important to her and the little nuances of what we were doing and the storytelling because that’s what she’s done best for the last 20 years.

“So to do a cinematic thing like that, I think with the wrestling has gone over the last two years, women haven’t gotten to that so much , and I think that was like the pivotal thing in our entire feud, so I’d love to do it again. But I’m also looking forward to, Mickie James just lost her Knockouts Championship to Tasha Steelz, so shoo, bye, it’s time to leave, we don’t need you anymore. And the sooner Chelsea finds that out, the better.”

Purrazzo will have another “Champ Champ” open challenge at IMPACT Multiverse of Matches on April 1.
