MJF Costs Wardlow, Scorpio Sky Retains AEW TNT Championship

Wardlow nearly won the AEW TNT Championship on the “St. Patrick’s Day Slam” episode of AEW Dynamite, but a familiar face cost him the gold.

On March 16, Wardlow challenged Scorpio Sky for the title one week after the latter defeated Sammy Guevara to win the gold. Despite the constant interference of Dan Lambert and American Top Team, “Mr. Mayhem” overpowered the champion at every turn. Even after Shawn Spears distracted him, Wardlow was seemingly on the cusp of victory until MJF blindsided him when the referee wasn’t looking.

MJF shoved Wardlow into the ring post, and Sky subsequently rolled the challenger up to win the bout. After the bell, MJF, Spears and American Top Team attacked “Mr. Mayhem”. He briefly rallied and managed to get MJF into the powerbomb position, but a chair shot from Spears ended his brief surge of momentum. A

ATT then helped MJF blast his former bodyguard with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. MJF proceeded to hand Dan Lambert some money, making it clear that he paid the manager and his fighters for their help.

Wardlow earned the title shot by winning the Face of the Revolution ladder match at AEW Revolution. On the same night, he betrayed MJF and cost him his Dog Collar Match against CM Punk.
