Logan Paul Compares Rey Mysterio To Floyd Mayweather: ‘They’ve Left Their Mark On This Discipline’

The WWE Universe may not be happy that Logan Paul is participating in WWE WrestleMania 38, but the YouTuber-turned-boxer is not entering the ring without a sense of respect for his opponents.

In a new interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Paul compared the way he’s feeling ahead of his match against The Mysterios to his mindset ahead of his memorable clash with the legendary Floyd Mayweather.

“It’s an honor,” said Paul. “I had this same feeling being in there with Floyd. He’s my opposition, he’s my opponent, but you got to have respect for these guys. They’ve been doing this their whole entire lives and they’ve become legends in their sport. They’ve left their mark on this discipline.”

The boxing star went on to explain that he’s aware of the magnitude of performing at WrestleMania, and he’s not taking it lightly. He stated that he’s been a fan of wrestling for a long time, and his previous involvement with WWE has been leading up to this high-profile moment.

“I’ve always been a fan of WWE,” said Paul. “I have massive respect for the superstars and growing up I’d watch it all the time. We had a little relationship back in my vlog days. I’d go to their events and we’d mess around. So I’ve been kind of intertwined with WWE and I actually had The Miz, who is my tag team partner at WrestleMania, on my podcast way back in the day. I kind of feel like my involvement in a match at WrestleMania was inevitable and here it is.”

Paul also discussed his all-time favorite wrestlers;  he named Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as big inspirations.

“Hulk Hogan, obviously. The Undertaker. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. I think the blueprint he laid out is my true inspiration,” said Paul. “The way he was able to pivot from the WWE to the highest-paid actor in the world, excelling in multiple disciplines, I kind of looked at that as proof you don’t have to be just one thing. Because I do a lot of sh-t, but I try to do it the best that I can and make my mark in each vertical like Dwayne did. So, yeah man, the inspiration from this sport runs deep. Hopefully one day I’ll inspire someone and they’ll see my match at WrestleMania and whatever future I have with WWE and say ‘Hey, because of you I did this and I accomplished this’ which is the ultimate dream.”

Paul will team up with The Miz to face The Mysterios on night one of WWE WrestleMania 38. He recently said that he’d be interested in working with WWE more frequently if his WrestleMania match goes well, which you can read more about at this link.
