Charlotte Flair: Everything About My Title Reign Will Be ‘Forgotten Once WrestleMania 38 Happens’

Charlotte Flair has reigned supreme in WWE’s women’s division for the past several months. She has held the SmackDown Women’s Championship since the controversial title swap in October, though her reign technically began with her victory at WWE SummerSlam. At WWE WrestleMania 38, “The Queen” will arguably face her toughest test yet when she defends the gold against Ronda Rousey.

In an interview with Graham “GSM” Matthews of WrestleRant, Flair looked back on her latest run as the champion. She admitted that she wished she had the opportunity to defend the title on pay-per-views (or premium live events) more often. She also recalled some of her most remarkable matches throughout this reign; specifically, she highlighted her bouts with Naomi and Toni Storm. “The Queen” went on to share her belief that everything about her current reign will be forgotten after WWE WrestleMania 38, when she’ll main-event the show in a title match against Rousey.

“I think for me, I would have liked to have more title defenses on pay-per-views,” said Flair. “But under certain circumstances, it was cool being the champion going into Royal Rumble because that’s never happened before. Having that match with Naomi, I’ve been waiting for that match for five years now, and we finally were able to have it on SmackDown like three weeks ago. I thought that was incredible, and it’s so cliche, but that was only a taste of what we could do, you know? That was only one match. So that was special for me. Survivor Series, you know, all I can say is number one doesn’t talk about number two, but it was fun to revisit that, the bitter best friend.

“But I think whatever I have done this entire run will be forgotten about after WrestleMania. You know what I mean? I hate to say that because I loved working Naomi, it was a pleasure being able to face Toni. I wish her the best, she has so much talent and is a star. But yeah I think for me it’s, just everything will be forgotten once WrestleMania happens.”

Flair is one of the decorated champions on the WWE roster today, and she’ll aim to keep building onto her legacy at WWE WrestleMania 38.
