Kurt Angle Praises Gable Steveson’s Abilities, Says He Could Make A ‘Big Splash’ In WWE

Olympic gold medalist and college wrestling phenom Gable Steveson is set to make his transition into the world of professional wrestling soon. Another legendary wrestler-turned-WWE-superstar thinks the sky is the limit for Stevenson.

“To be in the very best in the entire world at his age at only 21, it’s very rare,” WWE legend Kurt Angle said in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. “And Gable proved he is the best in the world.”

Steveson — who recently won his second NCAA Heavyweight Championship — is known for his athleticism, and Angle commended him in this regard. The former world champion also praised Steveson’s technique, noting that he can shuffle and move in a way that few other big men can.

“The way he’s able to shuffle and turn his matches into a dogfight, and then come out on top, he’s really good at that,” said Angle. “He’s such an incredible athlete for his size. Watch his balance; it’s amazing. He has a good knack for knowing where his body and his hips are. The kid is so mature, from a physical standpoint and a mental standpoint. And he brought a positive light on the sport of amateur wrestling. To me, that is incredible. Now he has the chance to make a big splash in WWE.”

As Steveson begins his move to WWE, Angle also offered up a bit of advice, as he explained that Gable has to be ready for anything. The Hall of Famer noted that the newcomer must practice often and hone every skill a professional wrestler needs, including his character work.

“He’ll need to make sure he’s well prepared and learns all the techniques, which I think he will do very quickly, but the hardest part is the character perspective,” Angle said. “I would tell him to practice daily, look in a mirror and work on those promo skills. He needs to show he has a lot of fire and personality. That’s where a lot of former amateur wrestlers have failed in professional wrestling. They didn’t have the personality.”

Steveson recently confirmed that he’ll be coming to WWE around WrestleMania 38, which will be held on April 2-3. Moving forward, fans can expect to see him sooner rather than later.
