Austin Theory Taking An ‘A to Z’ Approach To His Career: I Want It To Be Built Up Right

Austin Theory is not in a hurry to be at ‘Z’.

Austin Theory spoke with WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo ahead of his WrestleMania 38 match with Pat McAfee and talked about the mentality he took into the weekend.

“It’s very special. We all know the excitement that comes into WrestleMania and how big of a deal it is, I don’t think it’s really going to hit me until Sunday when I walk out and really take all of that in. As big of a weekend as that is, out there feels like such a short amount of time because it’s just so much fun. It’s the energy and just a moment you want to live forever. So for me, I’m just pumped,” Theory said. “It’s WrestleMania.”

Austin Theory also spoke about his mindset in regards to the rest of his wrestling career, in which he used the alphabet to put things in perspective. Theory said he’s enjoying all of the experiences he’s had and will have until he gets to the top of the mountain, and doesn’t want to look past that.

“I think with me, I try to stay in the mindset of — the way I look at life is like it’s the alphabet. A-through-Z, I just want to make sure I’m not in a hurry to be at Z. You know what I mean? I want to enjoy all of the letters in between like, C and D and E. If that’s where I’m supposed to be,” he noted, “I’m going to enjoy that. Like right now, it’s all of the stuff you look at online — and that’s why I’m not really an online person when it comes to reading into all of that stuff — everybody wants you to be the champion already, but it’s like if you get the belt already, where do you go [from there]?

“I love building this and making it worth it because when that does happen, when that final time does come around, I want it to mean something. I feel like right now, me winning the WWE Championship or something like that,” Theory added, “that’s so awesome and it’s a life-long dream of mine, but I want it to be built up right.”

Austin Theory won’t be in world title contention just yet, but this past week saw him throw his hat into the United States Championship picture.
