Montez Ford Recalls The Origin Of His Frog Splash, Wanted It To Be Called ‘From The Heavens’

Montez Ford borrowed from some all-time greats when he crafted his own Frog Splash.

The Street Profits standout is renowned for his remarkable Frog Splash, as he soars high into the air and comes crashing down on his opponents. Several legends have used the same move, but Ford’s take on the dive is widely viewed as one of the best in the game today.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast,  Ford discussed the origins of his Frog Splash. When asked whether he took inspiration from any others, he named Rob Van Dam and Eddie Guerero. He also described how he has aimed to combine the two and make it his own. From the start, Ford was also determined to make his spin on it the highest out of any other Frog Splash.

“I would definitely say Rob Van Dam and Eddie Guerrero,” said Ford. “I try to have a combination or a mix of the both of them. Eddie, when his impact, when Eddie hit it, it looked like he just bam! Just took out whatever it was in the person, he was gone. And also for Rob Van Dam’s height and his range. I’ve seen him hit it from so many different areas of the ring and so I just said you know what, those are like my two favorite ones, I’m gonna try to have a mixture of both of them in the mix and combine it. And I said if I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna make sure it’s gonna be the highest because they got pretty high on theirs. And I said you know what, I’m gonna get the highest.”

Ford went on to note that he wanted his Frog Splash to be called “From The Heavens” because it looks like he comes crashing back down to earth.

“I’m gonna make sure it’s so high to the point that they’re not even gonna call it a frog splash, they’re gonna literally call it ‘From the Heavens’ because I jump out of the frame and come down like I literally got dropped from the heavens.

The Street Profits continue to chase the RAW Tag Team Championship on Monday nights, and fans can look forward to Ford’s Frog Splash any given night.
