Major League Wrestling Expands Partnership With IWA Puerto Rico, New Championship Being Commissioned

Major League Wrestling is expanding its partnership with IWA Puerto Rico, and the agreement will now include the debut of a new design for the Caribbean Championship.

From MLW:

MLW and the IWA Puerto Rico have been discussing trading more talent as well as the island holding more title bouts.

The two promotions are also readying for the historic Caribbean Championship to be retired… well, the old Caribbean belt that is.

A new Caribbean Championship has been commissioned and depending on the final touches, could make its debut in Philadelphia at MLW Kings of Colosseum on Friday May 13th (buy tickets).

The Caribbean Championship was originally defended from February 14, 2009 until June 16, 2012, when IWA went on hiatus. Major League Wrestling brought back the Caribbean Championship in 2019, with Savio Vega as the first champion under the MLW banner. Richard Holliday then won the title and made several unsanctioned title defenses due to him taking the belt after a non-title match win. King Muertes and Octagón Jr. are the other two men to hold the title since Holliday.
