Josh Alexander Believes Mike Bailey, Steve Maclin Are Hot On His Trail In World Title Picture

Josh Alexander hasn’t won the IMPACT World Championship back just yet, but he already feels as if he’s got some competition in the title hunt.

During an appearance on the Battleground Podcast, Josh Alexander was asked who he considers as a potential challenger if he beats Moose for the IMPACT World Championship at Rebellion. Alexander named Steve Maclin as a possible candidate, noting that Maclin has really impressed during his run in IMPACT so far.

“From all the way down, Steve Maclin’s somebody that sticks out in my mind,” Alexander said. “Somebody that was in the X-Division that’s probably like teetering on his way to getting towards the heavyweight division that I could see on my radar in the future and stuff like that. The stuff he’s been turning out since he showed up in IMPACT, he’s really shown everybody this identity that I don’t think anybody saw when he was in NXT and WWE before. There’s just a long list.”

Alexander then named “Speedball” Mike Bailey as another name that is moving up in the ranks, but was quick to note that there are plenty of names in the hunt right now.

“I could see Speedball Mike Bailey hot on my trail. Dude, he signed his contract on my back. I was so happy for him and I knew the second that any eyes got on him and he got that visa, it was just gonna be like a rocket ship. So I can see him being hot on the trail if he wants to jump ahead of the X-Division and skip straight to the heavyweight division, the matches we could put on are gonna be unlike anything anybody’s seen in IMPACT Wrestling in a very long time. But you can’t count anybody out,” Alexander pointed out. “That roster, from Speedball Mike Bailey, Maclin, Eric Young, Eddie Edwards, then you got Matt Taven and Mike Bennett jumping in there, all the way down. I can’t single anybody out specifically because it could be anybody.”
