Deonna Purrazzo believes IMPACT Wrestling has the best women’s locker room, though women’s wrestling as a whole is on fire right now.
Purrazzo, the reigning Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion and a former IMPACT Knockouts World Champion, has established herself as one of the top stars in IMPACT’s women’s division, if not the entire world. For years, IMPACT has been renowned for its Knockouts Division, and “The Virtuosa” believes it’s unmatched.
In an interview with Riju Dasgupta of Sportskeeda Wrestling, Purrazzo spoke highly of the division before she noted that she didn’t want to get in the middle of an argument about which company is better. She noted that everyone offers something different, and she went on to say that all of women’s wrestling is booming at the moment.
“I think our locker room is the best because I’m atop our locker room, and I am the best,” said Purrazzo. “You know, I think there’s always going to be comparisons to women and women’s wrestling and our divisions, respectively, but I think we all offer different things. I think we all bring different things to the table, so while I believe our division is the best and the most diverse, I don’t wanna be a part of that argument.
“Women’s wrestling is thriving right now across the board, so I’m just excited to be a part of this, whether it’s here at IMPACT Wrestling, getting to go to AEW, working with the women from AAA, working with the women that were a part of the Ring of Honor regime prior to Tony buying it, I get to work with incredible women across the board and that is what matters to me.”
In the same interview, Purrazzo described how she likes the way IMPACT offers ex-WWE stars a “landing zone.” She used Taya Valkyrie, her opponent at the Rebellion pay-per-view, as one example and also cited her own journey to the company as another. A few months before she became a Knockouts Champion, WWE released Purrazzo in a cost-cutting move.
“I love that IMPACT has continued to be a landing zone for people post-WWE,” said Purrazzo. “And whether they’re stars that have been here before, like Taya, or somebody brand new like I was, I think it’s really great that IMPACT is continuing to give people other options and keeping the wrestling landscape competitive and healthy. So to see Taya back, and she said to me, ‘I’m just in this crazy mode where I just want to do everything and show out’, it’s awesome to get to kind of be a part of that.”
Purrazzo will make her AEW debut on the May 4 episode of AEW Dynamite when she faces Mercedes Martinez in the match that will determine the undisputed ROH Women’s World Champion.
