Kris Statlander To Replace Hikaru Shida In Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament

Hikaru Shida has been removed from the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion defeated Julia Hart on the April 6 episode of AEW Dynamite to qualify for the bracket. But during the May 11 taping of AEW Rampage, Tony Schiavone announced that Shida has been sidelined with an injury, so she will be unable to compete in her first-round bout against Red Velvet. Schiavone noted that Shida’s injury occurred during her Philly Street Fight against Serena Deeb. He then announced that Kris Statlander will take her place in the tournament.

It’s currently unclear how Shida is hurt; likewise, the duration of her expected absence is unknown. WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.

The Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament kicked off on the May 11 episode of AEW Dynamite when Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter in a quarterfinal bout. The competition will continue on the May 13 episode of AEW Rampage; Riho will face Ruby Soho in a first-round contest.
