The former AEW Women’s World Champion threw everything she had at “The Runaway”, but Soho clinched the win with the Blade Runner.
Here’s how the bout played out, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:
Owen Hart Foundation Tournament quarterfinal: Riho vs. Ruby Soho
Riho and Soho feel each other out early on. “The Runaway” hits a shoulder tackle, but Soho catches her with a roll-up doe a two count. The former AEW Women’s World Champion takes Soho down with a head-scissors and hits a standing stomp. Soho slams Riho face-first into the turnbuckle. The two competitors trade blows. Riho blocks the No Future and wrenches Soho’s leg in a Bow and Arrow. A diving stomp through the ropes gives Riho even more momentum. She grounds Soho, but the latter fires up and targets her opponent’s arm with an arm-bar. Riho gets a two count with a backslide. She gets another two count with a Northern Lights suplex.
The former champion maintains the advantage, but Soho rolls through a crossbody for a near fall. Riho plants Soho with a Crucifix Bomb for another near fall. Soho keeps fighting and dumps Riho on her head with a backdrop driver. She hits the Blade Runner for the win.
Winner: Ruby Soho
The quarterfinals will begin on the May 18 episode of AEW Dynamite; Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. will face a mysterious Joker entrant. Then, on the May 20 episode of AEW Rampage, Kris Statlander will face Red Velvet in another quarterfinal bout.
