Drew McIntyre Compares Roman Reigns To Thanos, Says He’s In ‘Phase One’ Of Getting A Singles Match With Him

Drew McIntyre plans to go for the head when he gets a shot at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

McIntyre and RK-Bro came up short against Reigns and The Usos in a six-man tag team bout at WWE WrestleMania Backlash earlier this month. That being said, “The Scottish Warrior” remains determined to get a singles match with Reigns, and he’s willing to be patient during this quest.

In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, McIntyre emphasized his desire to face “The Head of the Table” and take him down. The former WWE Champion then compared Reigns to Thanos, the popular villain in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The fan-favorite star noted that he might be in “phase one” in his journey toward getting the match he wants, but he’ll do whatever it takes to reach his destination.

“That’s the goal,” said McIntyre. “I wanna get that match with Roman. I wanna take him down, he’s got both the titles…..I’m looking to get that match down the line. Right now, as far as I’m concerned, as far as the fans are concerned, he’s Thanos from the Marvel movies. He’s pretty much indestructible and he’s not easy to get to. So this is phase one of getting to him, getting that match, I’ll do whatever it takes to get that match.”

The WWE SmackDown star also stated that while he doesn’t “acknowledge” Reigns the way he may wish, he respects the way “The Head of the Table” has reached the next level and become a major star. But at the end of the day, he vowed to dethrone Reigns.

“I acknowledge my foot’s gonna connect with his face,” said McIntyre. “I acknowledge that what he says is a lot of truth. That’s the cool thing about the character. He’s somebody, when I talk about people staying within the character, he stays within the character’s based in reality. He’s been around for a minute and he hadn’t quite put those final pieces together, even though he was a top guy, even all he’d achieved, even though as much as he had, it took this ‘Tribal Chief’ character to truly go to that super superstar level.

“He talks about the numbers, and I see the numbers. Everything he says is based in truth. He genuinely is a needlemover. He genuinely is a huge attraction and he stays within that character. And he’s not getting my acknowledgment except he tells the truth, but I’m gonna tell the truth, too. I’m gonna be the one to take him down.”
