Powerhouse Hobbs Draws From Personal Experiences In The Ring, Saw ‘A Whole Lot Of Red’ Against Keith Lee

Powerhouse Hobbs is dialed in when he’s in the ring.

During an appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Powerhouse Hobbs spoke about drawing from his real life for his wrestling career. Hobbs noted that certain media plays a role as well, but most of what he uses for psychology comes from his own experiences.

“From certain movies, certain movie characters, I draw from. Most of it is just from my personal experience, like growing up. A lot of pain I went through growing up as a child,” Powerhouse Hobbs explained. “I think of that stuff when I’m in there. I don’t want to go back to any of that, and I draw from my own personal experiences.”

Asked if emotion has ever overcome him in a way that it becomes a shoot, Hobbs said that he can control his intensity and knows when to dial things back.

“No, because I can control it. You know, I think I did see a whole lot of red in that match that I had with Keith Lee. Like the aftermath, it was go. It was time to show out, and it took a look to put him through that table,” Hobbs noted, “but I had to draw from somewhere. But I do know how to control that on and off switch. There’s kinda been moments where I just, I thought of so much hurtful sh-t that I just kept going and going and popping a guy a popping a guy. Then you realize, okay we’re working. So then you gotta kinda tone it down a little bit, kinda turn that dial down.”
