First Woman Advances To Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals On 5/25 AEW Dynamite

Half of the finals of The Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

On the May 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. faced Toni Storm in the first of two semifinals.

Baker defeated Danielle Kamela to qualify for the bracket, and she beat Maki Itoh in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Storm made her AEW debut when she defeated The Bunny to clinch her spot in the bracket. She then defeated Jamie Hayter in the quarterfinals. Storm pinned Baker in a tag team bout on the May 6 episode of AEW Rampage.

Both women threw everything they had at each other, but Hayter tipped the momentum in Baker’s corner. Late in the match, she came to the ring, and though it looked like the former champion didn’t welcome her presence, it still enabled Baker to steal the win with a rope-assisted pin.

Here’s how the match broke down, courtesy of our play-by-play coverage:

It’s real back and forth battle that goes into a commercial break. That continues post-commercial. Toni goes for a Storm Zero, but Britt hits an Air Raid Crash. Out comes Jamie Hayter. Britt is distracted but kicks out of a roll up. Britt gets a near fall. Storm hits a release German suplex. Storm has a busted nose. Hayter is back on the apron and Storm slugs her. Britt goes for an Air Raid but sits down. Hayter helps Britt get her hand on the ropes for leverage and it’s good enough for the 1-2-3.

As a result, Baker will advance to the finals at AEW Double or Nothing; she will face the winner of the other semifinal bout, Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho, on the May 27 episode of Rampage.
