AEW Rampage Results (6/3/22): The Young Bucks, Scorpio Sky And More

In-ring segment: AEW World Champion CM Punk

The champion does not look happy as he comes to the ring. He has tears in his eyes as fans continue to cheer for him after his music stops. He says when he got to the arena, every bone in his body told him to go home, but his gut told him that the fans deserved to know the truth. Punk says when he arrived in AEW, he’d wrestle until the wheels fell off, and with that, he has good news and bad news. He makes it clear that he doesn’t want to disappoint the fans, and he hopes he hasn’t done that yet. Punk states that he loves every single second he has been in the ring in AEW. He says the bad news is he’s injured and he needs surgery because “a couple things are broken.” He says his heart is broken because he loves performing so much. Punk says the wheels haven’t fallen off yet, but one of them is broken. Punk says he’s come back from worse, and this is a bump in the road.

As for the title, Punk says he told Tony Khan he doesn’t want to hold this place up because plenty of people can step up. He names Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. Punk says he was willing to relinquish the title, but Khan says he believes in him. He says he needed that because sometimes he doubts himself. Punk says “the get-back” is going to be bigger than the setback. He vows to come back bigger, faster, stronger, and hungrier and ever, and when he comes back, he’ll prove that he is the best in the world.

On commentary, Chris Jericho says that Punk will be relinquishing the title.
