Nick Aldis On His Evolution: I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I’ve Been Able To Do For The NWA, The Title

Despite losing the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship last year, Nick Aldis has still certainly stepped up to the plate and won fans over by being authentic.

In speaking with SEScoops, “The National Treasure” Nick Aldis detailed his journey in growing into favor of the audience and the evolution of his work in the National Wrestling Alliance:

“I think it’s a case of me just being more authentic with the audience. I take a lot of pride in what I’ve been able to do. When I passed the torch to Trevor [Murdoch], it was my opportunity to sort of state to everyone ‘I appreciate you guys coming along for the ride with me.’ I had the title for a long time. I know that can be quite polarizing, but I know what I’ve done. I know my body of work, and I know what I’ve done for this brand. I know what I did for that title,” Aldis admitted.

“I’ve been endorsed by Harley [Race], Ric [Flair], Dory [Funk], things like that,” he continued. I’ve got a whole list of firsts, I’ve got a whole list of never been done before. So I’m very comfortable in my legacy with the NWA. To me, I just sort of took it as an opportunity to acknowledge all of the people that have come along for the ride whether they were booing more or cheering me. I still feel that way. I’m not desperate for people to like me. If people appreciate what I’ve done, then I appreciate them.”

Nick Aldis was scheduled to take on Matt Cardona for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at Alwayz Ready this Saturday, June 11th. The status of Cardona’s torn bicep injury has the match in question, and it’s unknown what Aldis will do on the show in lieu of Cardona being pulled from the match.
