Ricochet faced a tall task when he defended the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Gunther on the June 10 episode of WWE SmackDown.
“The Ring General” has been unstoppable since he arrived on SmackDown in April, and he bulldozed his way to a match for the title. Meanwhile, Ricochet won the gold by dethroning Sami Zayn on the March 4 episode.
Gunther overpowered Ricochet as soon as the match started, and he blasted the champion with a nasty chop to the chest. He continued to dominate the match, but Ricochet rallied with a sunset flip.
“The One and Only” kept fighting , but Gunther blasted him with a lariat. Ricochet persevered and threw everything he had at Gunther, but in the end, the challenger floored him with a powerbomb for the win.
