Report: Adam Cole Elects Not To Have Surgery, Will Do Physical Therapy For Shoulder Injury

Adam Cole is opting to rehab a shoulder injury he’s dealing with instead of having surgery.

According to a report from F4WOnline.com‘s Dave Meltzer (via the Wrestling Observer Newsletter), Adam Cole will not have surgery to repair a torn labrum and will instead do therapy for the injury. Cole has not wrestled since Forbidden Door on June 26, where he ended up with a concussion. Cole was also working through a shoulder injury for several months, as Fightful reported that Cole was dealing with the shoulder injury since his feud with Hangman Page started in March.

According to Meltzer, Adam Cole’s timeframe to return to the ring is mostly based on recovering from the concussion and not the shoulder injury. It was noted that Cole is “faring better” in regard to the concussion.

After Double Or Nothing, AEW announced Adam Cole was injured and removed him from a 10-man tag match that he was scheduled for on the June 1 episode of Dynamite.

Cole wrestled one match since winning the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament at Double Or Nothing, as he was one of four participants in the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match at Forbidden Door. F4W’s Bryan Alvarez later reported that the plan was to give Cole time to rest, and he would not compete until Forbidden Door. Jay White ultimately retained his title at the pay-per-view, but fans were quick to point out that the finish looked off, and Meltzer later reported the rushed finish was due to Cole’s concussion.
