Cody Rhodes Calls Pec Tear A ‘Misleading Injury’, Still Needs To Be Careful

Cody Rhodes is trying to take it easy while he recovers from torn pectoral surgery.

During a recent conversation with Ringside Collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con, Cody Rhodes gave some feedback on the pectoral tear he’s currently recovering from. Rhodes said that it’s a tricky injury compared to a knee or back issues, but he’s just following his doctors’ orders and hopes to get back in the ring sooner than later.

“It’s really like a misleading injury,” Rhodes said. “In terms of, if you get a knee or a spine, you’re done for 4 months, before you even start. This one, two weeks out, you feel like you can go and move, and I’m not wearing the sling today, so I’m sure somebody from WWE is furious that I’m not wearing the sling. But I just have to take it slow and steady and be careful.

“[Dr. Jeff Dugas of Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama], who did the surgery, he’s legitimately the best in the world. He, again, is not going to give me a timeline, because he’s afraid I’m going to try and jump it, but I’m not. I’m going to take my time, I got injured in the gym in the first place. Take my time, but also, I really need to back out there and do what I do, hopefully soon.”

Rhodes has previously noted that doctors won’t give him a return timeline due to their concerns he might try to come back too soon and also noted that he nearly hemorrhaged during surgery to repair the muscle. Read more about his recovery here.
