Johnny Gargano: There Are Pros And ‘Khans’ At WWE And AEW, I Love What They’re Both Doing

To Johnny Gargano, there are pros and cons, and “Khans”, at WWE and AEW.

The former NXT Champion left WWE when his contract expired in December. He has taken some time away from the ring for the birth of his son, Quill. Otherwise, his future is up in the air.

At Starrcast V, Gargano discussed what’s next. When asked whether Triple H being in charge of WWE creative could sway his decision, he noted that he’s still surveying the landscape, and he loves what both companies are doing.

“This time period of my life has given me a unique opportunity to kind it sit back and survey the landscape of everything,” said Gargano. “If I would have made a decision immediately, who knows what would have happened? But the fact that I kind of told myself, I was just gonna sit back, watch how things turn out, and I’ll make a decision on that. I love things that both places are going. Trust me, there are pros and there are cons, get it, con, Khans, at both places. You like that? Word play. There are pros and cons of both places.”

Gargano went on to emphasize how he hasn’t made his decision yet, and he wants to protect the surprise factor of his next move.

“I love what both places are doing. This panel’s called ‘What’s NeXT?’, and what’s next for me is I’m gonna go home and change a diaper tonight. That’s what’s next. If people thought I was gonna come here and be like, ‘I’m gonna show up then,’ I’m not gonna say that because I don’t have an answer yet. Because I haven’t made up my mind, I haven’t made my decision yet. It’s just, I’m very lucky. I think we’re all lucky, and it’s not just wrestlers, but also wrestling fans, to be living in a time period where there’s options out there.

“There’s choices out there. There’s talent all over the world. There’s talent in both places that I haven’t wrestled yet that I wanna wrestle, and I’m all about right place, right time, right opportunity, and my favorite time period was a wrestling fan was the attitude era, where people would show up. You never knew. The internet wasn’t like this guy’s showing up then. This guy’s showing up here. It’s all surprises. I think that’s the fun thing about being a wrestling fan is being surprised. So whatever I can to try and add to that element of surprise and protect my surprise wherever that may he, I’m gonna keep protecting it.”
