WWE might be putting “wrestling” back in its language.
In recent years, the company has rarely used “wrestling” or “wrestler”, with the terms reportedly being banned under Vince McMahon’s direction. However, with Triple H taking over as head of creative, and Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan operating as co-CEOs, times are changing.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that, in addition to the mood being more relaxed, “wrestling” and “wrestler” are not considered “dirty words” anymore. He noted that the majority of those backstage think the changes are beneficial.
Additionally, Meltzer wrote that some members of the women’s division are optimistic that they will get more focus on WWE programming in the new regime.
