Report: WWE Has Discussed Bring Back Former NXT Champion

Dakota Kai may not be the only released star that makes their way back to WWE.

At WWE SummerSlam, Kai returned to the company just a few months after she was released in a cost-cutting move. Vince McMahon retired on July 22, and Triple H was named as the new head of creative. Since then, the company has made same changes, namely bringing back Kai, with more expected to come.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that the could has discussed Killer Kross‘ potential return. The report notes that several in the industry expect WWE to make the move, while one source noted that they “believed it was already in the company’s plans”, though it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Ross Sapp confirmed that Kross’ name has at least been discussed.

Kross has been working dates for Major League Wrestling and NJPW in recent months. WWE released him in a wave of cuts in November in 2021. His run on WWE RAW was a source of criticism, as the company stripped him of the gimmick and presentation that he had in NXT. He was also presented without his wife, Scarlett Bordeaux, a crucial part of the act. While Triple H was running NXT, Kross was one of the brand’s featured stars, and he won the NXT Championship twice.

Ross Sapp notes that it’s not clear what these discussions mean for Scarlett.

WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
