Shinsuke Nakamura will challenge for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the August 5 episode of WWE SmackDown.
On this week’s edition of the show, Nakamura battled Ludwig Kaiser in a singles match. With a win, “The King of Strong Style” would earn a title shot. The champion, Gunther, looked on at ringside while Nakamura defeated his right-hand man. The broadcast team then confirmed the bout for next Friday.

Nakamura has been feuding with Gunther in recent weeks, hoping to regain the title. He previously won the title in August 2021 and dropped it to Sami Zan in February. Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the gold on the June episode of WWE SmackDown.
