Report: MLW Cancels 8/27 ‘Fury Road’ TV Taping, Event Will Now Be A House Show

MLW has made a substantial change to its schedule.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider, reports that the company has canceled its “Fury Road” television taping in El Paso, Texas, on August 27, and the event will now be handled as a house show. PWInsider obtained an email from MLW’s Jared St. Laurent to talent who will no longer be brought in to the show. The email reportedly informed the talent of the cancelation and cited the “lucha promoter” not bringing as many MLW talents as “promised” as a factor in the cancellation.

In the email, St. Laurent told the aforementioned individuals that they will receive half pay for the booking, though it was canceled, “as a token of our appreciation as I know it’s been very frustrating having the schedule change this summer while we continue to finalize the new TV deal.”

Jacob Fatu and MLW World Heavyweight Champion Alex Hammerstone, among others, are still set for the show, which will be held at Austin High School. It’s unclear whether it will be taped for future content.

Johnson also noted that MLW’s Super Series event on September 18 is being “envisioned” as a live broadcast if the company can make the right deal in time for the show. Meanwhile, the company already taped content at the Battle Riot show in New York for its next season in the fall.
