Jacob Fatu On Josh Alexander: The Guy’s A Beast, He’s A F-cking Machine

Jacob Fatu is ready to get it cracking in Chicago.

The Wrestling Showcase will take place on September 3 and Jacob Fatu is one of the entrants in the tournament. Fatu spoke with WrestleZone about his history with Josh Alexander, which finally culminated in a singles match last month in Nashville.

“This goes back to what I say about everything in this business is about timing. We didn’t meet [in the ring] in AAW, but there was no better time than to be in Nashville for Ric Flair’s Last Match on a platform like that, in front of a crowd like that. Not only that, there were so many different companies there. We ain’t talking about just what the promotion has to offer, man. We’re talking about the best of the best. Absolutely, that was the first time me and Uce had ever tapped in, you know? But it was good, man. It was good overall. It was really good. You know, overall it was a good look. It was a good turnout.”

Jacob Fatu vs. Josh Alexander was a highly anticipated contest at Ric Flair’s Last Match, but there was ultimately no winner as the match was interrupted by Brian Myers and Matt Cardona. Fatu has a first-round matchup with Steve Maclin, and he’s not taking it lightly. That said, he agreed there’s potential to get even with Cardona and Myers for attacking him in Nashville, and he could even envision meeting Alexander in the tournament finals and getting some closure.

“We crossed paths, in and out, he seen me working. When you’re on shows with other cats, you tend to see cats here and there and the same cats popping up around the same show, that must mean they’re doing something. Not only that, I’m a big fan of tag team wrestling, the Steiner Brothers and everything. [Josh] just got that look to him, you know? Nobody looks like Josh Alexander. Don’t nobody look like Jacob Fatu. We first started out in Chicago — once again this goes back to Chicago, September 3rd baby the whole tournament again. Matter of fact, Josh is actually — him and Moose actually came into the tournament. So, I mean, hell, man, you might get a rematch later on that night, who knows? Like I said, it’s not a regular independent show. It’s a tournament. Things are liable to happen and things can go any way.”

Fatu took another moment to praise the current IMPACT Wrestling Champion and noted the possibility that they could meet up again this weekend.

“There’s all types of different ways that this bracket could go, and change the way — it’s not even just a regular indie show or ‘just’ a tournament,” Fatu explained, “especially with me going toe to toe with IMPACT’s Champion Josh Alexander. Man, the guy’s a beast. He’s a f-cking machine. But absolutely, man, with Myers and Cardona to come in towards the end [in Nashville]. I mean, it has to get settled one way or another.”
