Tony Khan: MJF Could Potentially Cash-In His Title Shot At ‘Any Sanctioned Event’

Tony Khan sheds more light on MJF‘s place in the AEW world title picture.

During a recent appearance on Rasslin’ with Brandon WalkerTony Khan was asked about how MJF would go about cashing in his Casino Ladder Match chip for his title shot. Khan said that he could see MJF being able to cash-in at any time there’s a sanctioned AEW event, and it certainly makes the title picture more interesting.

“I think any time, any sanctioned event, we could certainly make it happen. In this day and age, it’s a world that certainly with live television and pay-per-view events, all of these opportunities, it’s exciting to have a contender out there looming. And to have this big championship match tonight on Dynamite, it’s certainly more interesting to have two of the best wrestlers in the world, Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley, one-on-one for the world championship, and to have a great wrestler like MJF looming in the background, is a top contender with the right to challenge for the title at any time. It’s a very interesting championship picture right now in AEW.

Later in the interview, Khan was asked again about the possibility of MJF ending Dynamite with the title.

“I mean, I can’t control what happens there. I think we’ll have to see what happens at the end of the show, but it’s going to be a great world title fight. Certainly it’s a very interesting situation to follow,” Khan added, “a looming challenger out there after the great Bryan Danielson versus Jon Moxley world championship match on Dynamite.”

Is Tony prepared for a reality where MJF is his world champion?

“I am prepared to have anybody that the fans want to see as a top wrestler in AEW as a world champion, no matter who it is. If it’s somebody that the fans want to see wrestle here, that’s what matters. AEW was created for the fans and that’s who we wrestle for every week. That’s why we have these shows.”

MJF also addressed how he would potentially use his title shot, telling Walker in a separate interview that he could cash-in this chip whenever he wanted to. Walker followed up and asked if the chip had “Money In The Bank” qualities where he could use it any time he saw fit. MJF didn’t agree to that comparison but said he needed some clearance beforehand.

“So, I do have to have a conversation with someone beforehand. but that does not mean all parties need to be in the know of said conversation,” MJF said. “[I need] a little bit of clearance.”
