Report: Update On WWE Reaching Out To Contracted AEW Talent

WWE has reportedly reached out to multiple wrestlers who are under contract with All Elite Wrestling.

Previously, Fightful Select reported that WWE contacted an AEW star about a potential return, but the individual made it clear that they are happy where they are.

In an update, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE reached out to Malakai Black. He recently requested his release from AEW, and Meltzer noted that Black wasn’t the only talent that asked to get out of their contract. He also wrote that WWE contacted multiple talents who are under AEW contract.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select cited WWE sources who indicated that Black noted that he wished he was still there. Black’s conditional releasee from AEW is believed to prohibit him from returning to WWE for am “extended period.” Per Ross Sapp, some AEW higher-ups were aware of his interest in doing back to WWE, and they have the mindset of “If they want to go, let them.” A WWE source also said that “feelers” were sent to FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), though they still have some time left on their contracts.

Additionally, Swerve Strickland, formerly known as  Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, was contacted by WWE. Finally, another AEW source stated that WWE reached out to an AEW original who had been with the company from the start.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
