Seth Rollins Discusses His Current Relationship With Roman Reigns And Jon Moxley

Seth Rollins says there’s no animosity amongst his former Shield brothers.

Whether they are partners, rivals, or top guys in different companies, the careers of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) have been synonymous with each other for a decade. Now that the trio has spent some time apar (in differing ways), Ariel Helwani of BT Sport checked in on what kind of relationship Rollins has with his former Shield members.

When asked if there’s any animosity, envy, or jealousy in regards to Roman Reigns, Rollins said, “No. Oh, no. It’s very healthy competition. When we started The Shield, the goal was always to be the three of us at the top of the industry. That was always the goal. And it was never like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna help you, and you’re gonna help me, and we’re gonna help him.’ We were all using each other, not like helping each other. I don’t mean that in a negative way, but we all knew what we brought to the table, but we all knew that our goal was to be the top, top, top.”

“There was never any falling out. There was never any, ‘You deserve this, I deserve this’ type things. We’ve never been like that. He’s immensely talented at what he does, and he’s incredible as champion in his role as champion. The last two years have been super special for him as a performer. I take nothing away from him. But I just can’t do it in my heart to tell him myself that someone’s better than me or can do this better than I can. At the end of the day, it’s not my sandbox and these aren’t my decisions to make. But yeah, there’s never been any butting heads. It’s always been easy, smooth-sailing between him and I.”

Ariel Helwani also asked about Rollins’ relationship with Jon Moxley.

“Same. Yeah, I don’t talk to him as much obviously [with] opposite schedules and different stuff. Our baby girls are close to the same age. He’s not much of a texter or a phone guy. He’s an in-person due. If there’s ever a chance—when we were in Cincinnati last time I was there, [I] popped in to the house and said ‘Hi’ and checked in on him. I do the same thing periodically to check on him. I’m close with Renee, so we’re always exchanging baby pictures and what’s new with the kids and all that stuff. But again, never any animosity. He’s great. He’s at the top of his game and doing his thing over at AEW.”

Rollins concluded, “Nothing but the best. Between the three of us—and I can’t speak for the two of them—but they were closer than I ever was with either of them as friends off camera. So I assume they’re still chill. Never heard anything of the contrary. But yeah, I’ve always had a great relationship with those guys.”
